THE VOICE MAGAZINE IS TEN YEARS 8/1/2009
This month precisely marks 10 years of the advent of the Voice Magazine in the media scene. Though the Management has changed hands, we have remained steadfast on our Mission and focused on our Vision. John Milton wrote in his noble Areopagitica to prove his right to say what he thought fit, and incidentally to establish the advantage of a free press in the promotion of Truth. That is our guiding principle.

We adopt a broad view of criticism which is a thoughtful and multi-sided evaluation. It weighs, evaluates and judges. Contrary to some opinion, it does not only deal with faults. Sound criticism mentions good and bad qualities, virtues as well as vices. It does not set out to praise or condemn; rather, it weighs faults and excellencies and then passes a considered judgement. This is our ethos.

We have all the years brought to our reading public- the good, the bad and the ugly news. We have inspired you with words from, Nelson Mandela, Kofi Annan, Obama, Bishop Desmond Tutu, Wole Soyinka, etc.

We opposed and criticized some policies of Robert Mugabe, Al Bashir and other African long serving presidents. Also when we encouraged women empowerment and condemned racism and xenophobia, all are in the light of truth.

And to you all, your continued patronage, encouragement and support have kept us on this tortuous journey these past years and are still keeping us going. It is indeed a journey we
cannot undertake alone. We must keep trudging on a road of innovation and continuous improvement in your Voice and our Voice Magazine. Hurrah!
